This course is intended to give the winder electrician / technician and engineer an overview of the workings of a DC motor and drive system as found on mine winders. They will learn how a DC motor behaves in terms of current and voltage during the typical wind. The DC drive basics are covered including how thyristors work and how to test thyristors. General drive principles and fault diagnosis as well as maintenance is covered.
